What is Bachata?

Bachata - both music and dance - began with the lower classes of the Domincan Republic but is now fast gaining in popularity around
the world. The sentimental and sensual feel of the music is marked by a bawdy humour that connects the celebration of food, love and a macho delight in elaborating upon the ability of women to overpower men!

Bachata, the dance, is characterised by its close, intimate hold and smooth, flowing movements accented by a naughty hip movement. It is both a sensual and romantic yet fun dance that is simple to learn and enjoy.

Bachata (4-week course)
The great way to start learning Bachata. These classes will get you onto the dance floor with some basic to intermediate patterns, including ways to recognise Bachata music.

Attire: Dress comfortably.
Footwear: Court shoes with ankle straps that secure the shoe to your feet. Sneakers or track shoes. No slippers or sandals
